QCA Services

Qualified Coordinating Agency (QCA) plays a pivotal role in the renewable energy sector, particularly in India. QCAs are responsible for managing the forecasting, scheduling, and deviation settlement of renewable energy generation, such as solar and wind power. Their primary duties include:

1. Forecasting: Predicting the energy generation from renewable sources to ensure grid stability.

2. Scheduling: Coordinating with Load Dispatch Centers to schedule energy generation and supply.

3. Deviation Settlement: Handling penalties or charges for deviations from scheduled energy generation.

QCAs act as intermediaries between renewable energy generators and grid operators, ensuring compliance with regulations and smooth operations.

QCAs can significantly enhance your business operations, especially in the renewable energy sector. Here’s how:

1. Improved Forecasting Accuracy: QCAs use advanced tools and techniques to predict energy generation more accurately, reducing uncertainties and ensuring better grid stability.

2. Efficient Scheduling: They streamline the scheduling process by coordinating with Load Dispatch Centers, ensuring compliance with regulations and minimizing penalties.

3. Deviation Management: QCAs handle deviation settlement mechanisms, helping businesses avoid financial losses due to discrepancies between scheduled and actual energy generation.

4. Regulatory Compliance: QCAs ensure adherence to government policies and guidelines, saving businesses from legal complications.

5. Data-Driven Insights: By analyzing generation patterns and deviations, QCAs provide valuable insights that can help optimize operations and improve efficiency.

Harikrishnan Power & Technology Pvt Ltd (HPTPL) was registered as QCA by Tamil Nadu SLDC w.e.f. 1st July 2024.

As of now, HPTPL is providing QCA services to Solar projects (17 nos.) with total capacity of 24 MW. We are registered as QCA in the state of Tamil Nadu and in due course we would be registering as QCA in the states of Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan as well.

Roles and responsibility of HPTPL as a QCA:

As a registered QCA, HPTPL offers end-to-end forecasting, scheduling, and grid compliance services for solar power generators. Our core functions include:

  1. System Integration:
    • Deployment of a robust cloud-based IT platform for seamless data flow between generators and State Load Despatch Centres (SLDCs).
    • Real-time connectivity ensures accurate scheduling and compliance.
  2. Forecasting:
    • Generation forecasts powered by numerical weather prediction models, historical generation data, and real-time plant performance.
    • Adjustments made for special events such as plant maintenance, grid constraints, and load curtailments.
  3. Scheduling:
    • Preparation and submission of Week-Ahead, Day-Ahead, and Intra-Day schedules more than 8 revisions per day.
    • Integration of available capacity and forecast data from each pooling station into a consolidated schedule for SLDC.
    • Each revised schedule is transparently shared with all generators in the pool.
  4. Real-Time Data Monitoring:
    • 24×7 Operations Control Room monitors grid conditions and updates schedules based on outages or curtailments.
    • Real-time data is securely stored on our cloud server and transmitted to SLDC for compliance.
  5. Reporting & Analysis:
    • Detailed accuracy reports comparing forecasted vs. actual generation.
    • Monthly aggregation of Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) charges with transparency.
  6. Commercial Settlement & De-Pooling:
    • Execution of de-pooling of deviation charges among generators as per SLDC guidelines.
    • Handling of commercial settlements on behalf of generators, ensuring timely and compliant transactions.
